Patience Is a Virtue

Having patience in a role-play is probably one of the hardest things a player has to learn to master.

There are so many times where we become so driven to carry out our plot lines that we will rush them. And sadly most of the time we will end up regretting this lack of patience.

Great role-plays should flow like you're reading a book. You don't expect to read how the hero or herione found they had talents, were given a special quest, went on the journey and conquered or died trying all in one post or even chapter. It's just not as fun to read a rushed story. Let alone watch one on tv.

Many times in role-plays we come across this thrilling and exciting plot-line and we find ourselves wanting to do everything at once. We get mad and frustrated that real life has to interfer with our story and that sometimes we have to wait for days even weeks just to see the outcome. So we rush it.

And when we do the once great rp takes on a feeling of choppiness and loses it's amazing storyline and we find ourselves losing interest in it.

So how do we keep from jumping the gun? Rushing like a bull in a China closet? Easy! Focus on something else for a while. Maybe even take on another character if you are allowed to do so. Read up on your character, plot with other players. etc.

And if no one is on and you've practically bitten off your finger dying from anxiety, stop. Go and read a book, watch a film or television show...GET SUNSHINE! And try again at a later time of day.

Do anything you can to never rush a plot-line because when you don't, not only will you find you'll have more fun. But you'll have one heck of a role-play that everyone will enjoy and will want to join.
